Biography


Bingnan Lu is a postdoctoral fellow in Engineering Management within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta (U of A). Prior to joining U of A, he has worked at the National University of Singapore (NUS) as a research fellow of the Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA), and jointly as a visiting assistant professor of Analytics & Operations at NUS Business School. He received a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Minnesota (UMN) in 2021. His research mainly focuses on service operations and relies on the methodologies of stochastic modeling, applied probability, and queueing theory. He is interested in a broad range of applications, particularly focused on applications in healthcare and on-demand service platforms. Prior to UMN, he received a B.Eng. in Engineering Systems and Design from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in 2015, with a focus on Economics and Operations Research.
